Terminology Unit of the Government Translation Service

The Terminology Unit of the Government Translation Service has the mandate to:

• create official government terminology in French

• manage and disseminate official government terminology in English and French through the ONTERM website

• develop corporate guidelines on preferred French-language usage

Our clients can verify official government names by searching our databases or by consulting our Terminology Advisory Service, and request new official names or those not found on the ONTERM website.

Our team handles all requests received through the Service. There is always one of four terminologists on duty during office hours (Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
