Blessed with incredible natural beauty, northern Ontario offers superb four-season recreational opportunities.

For many families, the lake is their back yard. You can be on the boat or on the golf course within minutes after leaving the office or, in winter go skiing before arriving home for supper.

Ontario's 250,000 lakes (most of which are located in Northern Ontario) as well as thousands of kilometres of rivers and coastline provide outstanding canoe and kayaking routes through pristine wilderness. There are also more freshwater fishing opportunities than anywhere else in the world.

Northern Ontario offers some of the best hiking trails in North America, spread over stunning provincial parks, national parks and conservation areas.

Recreational outdoor activities in winter are just as good. Northern Ontario has the world's largest network of groomed snowmobile and ski trails winding through spectacular landscapes. Skating, ice fishing, snowshoeing and even dog sledding are popular winter pastimes.

Across Northern Ontario an incredible variety of performing arts venues showcase classical and contemporary drama, music and dance and residents enjoy a large selection of music, theatre and cultural festivals throughout the year.
