The success of Ontario's water sector is grounded in decades of accumulated water expertise and a concentration of world-class companies and institutions. One example of our expertise in water took place in May 2011. The province organized and hosted Ontario's Global Water Leadership Summit, a unique event that brought together some 300 world-renowned water innovators, thinkers, entrepreneurs, researchers and venture capitalists to participate in an active dialogue on the future of innovation in the water sector.

Post-Summit Report

Summit participants recognized that unlocking capital and removing adoption barriers for innovative water businesses are among the key challenges facing the development of water innovation today. They also agreed that there is a growing and committed group of leaders that are in front of water innovation development and the building of sustainable water systems. It is instructive to learn from such leaders and share insights. As a result, Summit leaders put together a special report, titled Ontario Global Water Leadership Summit Takeaways, which Ontario is pleased to present in full below.

The purpose of this report is to draw out key conclusions from the discussions that took place at the Summit and highlight recommendations for the continued development of innovation in the water sector. In doing so, the report sets the context for the current state of global water innovation, articulates key Summit discussion themes in the context of innovation ecosystems and highlights exemplary examples of water leaders.
