The Ontario Emerging Technologies Fund (OETF) is a $250 million fund that will co-invest along with qualified venture capital funds and other private investors directly into companies working within priority sectors including life sciences, advanced health technologies, digital media and information and communications technologies.
In addition to the OETF, the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation offers a number of programs that fund projects at Ontario's universities, colleges and public sector research centres, many of which involve partnerships with industry.
The Ontario Flagship Program, a component of the HTX's Health Technology Commercialization Program, is designed to support the Ontario-based global R&D mandates of multinational companies. It can cover up to 15 per cent of project costs for advanced-stage product development programs supporting global R&D mandates. Priority market segments include, but are not limited to:
- medical devices
- diagnostics and medical imaging
- healthcare IT and wireless health (smart devices)
- assistive technologies and home healthcare
