Listen to the people who do business in Ontario.

Capcom Mobile
Midori Yuasa, President, Capcom Mobile

"Toronto is a centre for the North American entertainment industry. It gives us access to a seemingly endless supply of young, talented, entertainment-savvy people, thanks to its colleges and universities. The city also offers relatively low business costs, exceptional R&D tax credits you can't find anywhere else in the world and helpful economic development people to facilitate all aspects of business start-up. Without the Toronto studio there simply wouldn't be a Capcom Mobile."

Context: When Capcom established its first development and production facility outside Japan, it chose the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The facility opened in June 2006 and has been highly successful for the company.

Ubisoft
Yannis Malllat, CEO, Ubisoft Montreal and Toronto

"We're incredibly excited to finally tap into the remarkable talent Ontario has been developing over the years. There's a deep pool trained in both film and video game design and production – one that keeps growing thanks to well-established university and college programs."

Context: In late 2009 French gaming giant Ubisoft announced it was establishing a studio in Toronto to help keep the company at the forefront of the gaming industry. Supported by a $263 million grant from the Ontario government, Ubisoft will invest over $500 million in its Toronto facility over the next decade.

Tecmo Koei
Toru Ogawa, Executive Vice President, Tecmo Koei Canada

"Toronto is famous for its storytelling, computer graphics and gaming talent. The fact that the city is so multicultural is also an advantage when you're developing games for the world market as we are. Adding to Toronto's appeal, costs are reasonable, the city offers access to both the North American and European markets and a lifestyle the company's Japanese and Canadian staff enjoy."

Context: When Yokohama, Japan-headquartered Tecmo Koei was choosing a site for its overseas production facility it headed straight to Toronto. The worldwide game developer and publisher set up shop in the city in 2001, expanded in 2005 and has been growing steadily ever since, creating games for all console and hand-held platforms.

Silicon Knights
Denis Dyack, President and Founder, Silicon Knights

"In our business it all comes down to creative talent. We have very talented writers, artists, programmers and game designers; most are graduates of Ontario colleges and universities. Plus, Niagara provides a quality of life that's second to none, which enables us to recruit and keep our talent."

Context: Niagara-based Silicon Knights develops and produces groundbreaking games for the world's top publishers, including Microsoft, Nintendo, Activision and Konami. Created in the late 1980s, Silicon Knights is one of the most successful independent game developers in the world.
