Developers and publishers like Japan-based Capcom and Tecmo Koei have their North American production centres in Ontario and France-based Ubisoft recently established a development studio here as well.
Ontario is also home to successful domestic companies, including Artech Studios, Bedlam Games, Digital Extremes, Dreamcatcher Interactive, Magmic, March Entertainment, Pseudo Interactive and Silicon Knights, who sell their games worldwide.
Helping Ontario's digital game companies produce the next generation of games are:
- innovative software developers Autodesk (formerly Alias Wavefront), responsible for creating Maya, Side Effects Software, the creator of Houdini, and GestureTek, a pioneer in camera-enabled gesture-recognition technology
- hardware developer AMD (which acquired world-leading Toronto-based ATI Technologies
- Fast Motion Studios, which is fully outfitted for video game design with pre-vis capability, motion capture cameras, green screen, an aerial truss system for complex wire action and an experienced in-house student team.
