In a time share agreement, you buy the right to use a property (for example, a condo unit in a vacation resort) for a specified period of time.
You may also have the ability to swap your time share for one at another location (sometimes at additional cost).
Vacation clubs offer you discounts or benefits on future accommodation or travel-related services. They fall under the definition of time share in the Consumer Protection Act, 2002.
The act gives you specific rights if either you or the business you deal with is located in Ontario when you enter into a time share agreement. For example, you may cancel such an agreement for any reason during a 10-day cooling off period.
