Payday lenders and loan brokers’ licences
The licensing provisions of the Payday Loans Act, 2008 came into effect on April 1, 2009.
Payday lenders and payday loan brokers in Ontario are deemed licensed and are required to file a licensing application by July 1, 2009.
The licensing fees are $750 per main office and $990 per branch office.
It is anticipated that payday licensees will also be required to make payments to the Ontario Payday Lending Education Fund beginning in the Spring of 2010.
