Technical Standards Safety Authority

The Technical Standards and Safety Authority enforces Ontario's Technical Standards and Safety Act, 2000 covering industry sectors such as amusement devices, boilers and pressure vessels, elevating devices, natural gas, petroleum, propane and other fuels and equipment, operating engineers and upholstered and stuffed articles.

Performance Measures:

The Technical Standards and Safety Authority has measures and targets that report on its efforts to enhance public safety for the sectors of fuels, amusement/elevating devices, boiler and pressure vessels, and upholstered and stuffed articles.

Public Safety:

  • Percentage of risk of injury or fatality

Public Awareness:

  • Percent of households able to recall fuel safety information communicated via direct mail campaign
  • Percent public readership recall rate for TSSA’s community carbon monoxide campaigns

These performance measures address recommendations made in the 2009 Delegated Administrative Authority (DAA) Model Review report and the 2009 Annual Report of the Office of the Auditor General of Ontario. They focus on enhancing consistency in the reporting of DAA performance information.
