Rules for Mixed Martial Arts, Boxing and Kickboxing

The regulations under the Athletics Control Act adopted the state of New Jersey rules for the conduct of professional Mixed Martial Arts events in Ontario, which are the most widely used in North America. This helps to ensure consistent officiating and contributes to the safety of participants. These rules comprehensively regulate MMA and cover everything from weight classes for combatants to protective equipment and judging.

Ontario has adopted the Unified Rules of Boxing approved by the Association of Boxing Commissions.

All three permitted professional combative sports in Ontario (Mixed Martial Arts, Boxing and Kickboxing) are regulated under the Athletics Control Act and Amendments:
